Chemring Group PLC (“Chemring” or “the Group”) announces the appointment of Dr David Price as Group Chief Executive with effect from 4 April 2005. Dr Price is 49 years old and leaves his current employment at Rolls-Royce plc as Managing Director, Naval Marine, where he has had responsibility for managing a global business with a turnover in excess of £450 million per annum. Dr Price has held a number of senior appointments in the aerospace industry, including Managing Director of Thomson (UK) Holdings Ltd and Chief Executive of Thomson-Thorn Missile Electronics Ltd (both now part of the Thales Group). Dr Price is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology.
Chemring’s current Chief Executive, David Evans, will step down as Chief Executive in April 2005 and will take up the position of Non-Executive Deputy Chairman.
Chemring Chairman, Ken Scobie, said he was delighted that Dr Price had consented to take up the role as Chief Executive:
“David Price is just the man we need to take full advantage of the increasing range of opportunities open to the Group. I am pleased that we will be retaining David Evans, who will be able to concentrate his expertise and skills on our growing businesses in the United States. These two appointments, together with the appointments earlier this year of two new independent non-executive directors, will further strengthen the Board to enable it to deliver its future strategy for the Group.”
