Ken Scobie, Chairman of Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring" or "the Company"), made the following statement at the Company's Annual General Meeting today: "I am delighted to report that trading remains buoyant for the Group's countermeasures business, particularly with the Department of Defense in the United States. Alloy Surfaces' second plant and technology centre is now operational, and the official opening will be held on 11 April.

Chemring sees continuing growth in decoy sales for several years. The Company does not believe that new technologies, such as lasers which are more expensive and technologically challenging, will have any measurable impact on its decoy sales for at least ten years. In many operational scenarios, decoys and lasers complement each other, and currently combinations of decoys are effectively protecting military aircraft from various MANPAD threats.

The Company continues to explore a number of acquisition opportunities in areas which are geographically and operationally complementary to its existing businesses."
